Tammy (Yu-Tung) Lin is a Taiwanese American pianist who has performed as a solo and collaborative pianist, instrumental and vocal accompanist and oboist. As a solo pianist, she had debuts at the most prestigious concert venues in US, including Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center of Performing Arts in NYC and Kennedy Center of Performing Arts in Washington DC. Past awards include 1st Prize in 2018 and 2016 American Fine Arts Festival International Competition, 1st Prize in 2019 San Francisco International Innovative Music Competition, 2nd Prize in 2016 Manhattan International Music Competition, Grand Prize in 2014 Russian Music Competition in Pyrenees Music Society, 2nd Prize in 2014 Eastern Music Festival Piano Competition, and the winner of  2014 All-Star Concerto Competition in UCLA.

Born in Taiwan, she gave her first solo recital at age 6 in Guanran Catholic Music Elementary School and started accompanying instrumentalists at age 7. After moving to US at age 14, she received scholarship to study piano with Machiko Kobialka at San Francisco Conservatory of Music Preparatory Division. In US, Tammy has performed in masterclasses with world-renowned pianists, such as Jura Margulis, Gilbert Kalish, William Wolfram, and Martha Thomas. Previous festivals she attended include the Chautauqua Music Festival, Eastern Music Festival, InterHarmony Music Festival, and the Miami Music Festival. She also performed in various cities throughout the States, including San Francisco, Los Angeles, Monterey Bay, Guam, Greensboro, Buffalo, Miami, and NYC. 

Tammy earned her Bachelor of Music degree in Piano from University of California Los Angeles with academic distinction under the tutelage of Walter Ponce and Inna Faliks. In May 2017, she received her Master of Music degree in Manhattan School of Music (MSM). While in MSM, she studied Classical Piano with the Juilliard graduate, Daniel Epstein, and Instrumental Accompanying with the chair of MSM Collaborative Piano Department, John Forconi. In addition, she worked as a Staff Accompanist at MSM and taught piano and music theory at a local music school.

Tammy is also an oboist. She started playing oboe when she was only eight year old, and had held the position as Principle Oboe in Guaran Catholic Music Elementary School Orchestra and Mills High School Band. At Age 13, she received 1st Prize in Taipei City Youth Oboe Competition and Honorable Mention in Taiwan National Youth Oboe Competition. In the US, she had received Gold Metal in California Music Education Association State Session and Mills Music Award during her high school years.

 

Tammy is currently operating her piano studio in the Bay Area, teaching, and accompanying instrumental and piano concerto repertoires. Tammy is also one of the founders and judicators in Bay Area Piano Competition. 

Outside her piano teaching and performing career, Tammy devotes her time to elementary education. In 2020, she completed 12 units of Early Childhood Education at Skyline College. In 2021, she passed the reading, mathematics, and writing section of the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST). She also passed California Subject Examination for Teacher (CSET): Multiple Subject Exam that included English, history, mathematics, science, physical education, human development, and arts. Previously, she served as a temporary 3rd grade teacher and a floater teacher at Stratford School.  As of fall 2023, Tammy's passion and skills brought her to Music for Minors, a non-profit organization, to teach elementary music classes in public schools in the district of San Carlos and San Mateo-Foster City.
